Rev. Jieun

Dharma Teacher

Inspired by the Buddhist idea of inner freedom and happiness, Rev. Jieun Lee started her monastic training in 2000. She graduated from the Dept. of Won Buddhism, Youngsan University, Korea and earned an M.A. of Won Buddhist Studies from the Won Institute of Graduate Studies, PA.

She received full ordination in 2006 and served as a minister at the Los Angeles Won Buddhist temple from 2007 until 2011, and at the Chicago Won Buddhist temple from 2012 until 2016. She is currently working as a resident teacher at the Won Dharma Center. She believes in the Buddha’s teaching that our lives and this world are the manifestations of our minds. Her role at the Won Dharma Center is focused on how to discover, nurture and use our original mind well.

She believes that this is the way to realize the vision of Sotaesan, the founding master of Won Buddhism, “With this Great Unfolding of material civilization, Let there be a Great Unfolding of spirituality.” She wants to share the Buddha’s teaching and her practice with people who seek unconditional happiness and freedom.
