Rev. Hyunoh Kim

Guest Teacher

In 1993, Rev. Hyunoh Kim was ordained as a Won Buddhist minister in South Korea. After immigrating to the United States in 1996, she served at the San Fernando Valley Temple for two years. She then dedicated herself to establishing a Won Buddhist Temple in Boston, MA, where she currently serves as the head minister. Rev. Kim’s practice is guided by her realization that the source of true enlightenment—freedom of mind—lies in the constant transformation of human consciousness. This awareness, cultivated through a truly open mind in conjunction with dedicated meditation and study of the human mind, not only transformed her life but also deeply influenced her teaching. The focus of Rev. Kim’s teaching is the understanding that life itself is the ultimate school for spiritual practice. She emphasizes that a practitioner’s highest aspiration should be to help others realize their true nature, or original mind, so that they can attain complete liberation. Rev. Kim holds a Master’s degree from Harvard Divinity School and currently collaborates with researchers at Harvard Medical School to study the neurological and physical benefits of meditation on the human body.
